Position Summary
The primary responsibilities of the School Counselor are to promote student success, provide preventive services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, career, and personal/social development for all students. Their primary role will be to help students overcome problems that impede learning and to assist them in evaluating their abilities, interests, talents and personality characteristics in order to develop realistic and fulfilling academic, career and personal goals.
Position Qualifications & Competencies
Belief in the mission and values of InspireNOLA.
Louisiana certification as a Licensed Professional Counselor, with at least three (3) years prior successful teaching experience on the elementary or secondary level. 
Master’s degree in school counseling (preferred) or graduate training with a minimum of 24 semester hours of professional courses.
Ability to work collaboratively with school team, families and community members.
Desire to continuously improve instructional practices and willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Implement developmentally appropriate and prevention-oriented group activities to meet student needs and school goals.
Assist all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career, and personal/social skills, goals and plans.
Collaborate with parents/guardians and school staff to assist students with educational and career planning.
Provide individual and group counseling to students with identified concerns.
Implement an effective referral and follow-up process
Provide appropriate information to staff related to the comprehensive school counseling program.
Participate and actively seek professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills.
Use available technology resources to enhance the school counseling program.
Adhere to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the school counseling profession.
Monitor student academic performance, behavior and attendance and assist with appropriate interventions.
Perform other related duties as required.
The Counselor reports to the Head of School.
