Position Summary
The primary goal of the CNA/Child Specific Para (CSP)is to perform non-complex health procedures, delegated by the School Nurse, required to accomplish care for students with special health needs and the objectives of the total school health program. As a member of the InspireNOLA school team, the CNA/CSP is successful when students have a clean, healthy, and safe learning environment when we provide teachers and leaders the resources and systems to achieve InspireNOLA’s mission, and when we empower our staff to maximize their individual and collaborative performance.  The CNA/CSP supports the emotional, mental,
physical and social health of students.

Position Qualifications & Competencies

High school graduate or equivalent
Current CNA certification 
Current CPR certification
5 years of clinical experience as a CNA or MA
Willingness to work with children, adolescents, and young adults, ages 3-22 years.
Must have computer skills required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information
clearly and professionally.
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent time management skills

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Assists special needs students with their activities of daily living, including but not limited to diapering, toileting, feeding, assisting with ambulation, and transferring.  
Performs tracheostomy care, gastrostomy tube feedings, and/or intermittent urinary catheterization as needed, upon training and delegation by the School RN.
Administers oral, inhaled, and topical medications to students as trained and delegated by the School RN
Observe student(s) and note physical condition and reactions and report abnormal findings to the school nurse.  
Provides appropriate emergency care of illness or injury to students in accordance with school district policy and procedure, and as directed by the School RN.
Maintains confidential student information.
Follows all policies and procedures to maintain a safe school setting.
Participates in all training and continuing education. 
Maintains licensure to meet federal, state, and accreditation standards.
Other related duties as required.
