Position Summary
InspireNOLA Charter Schools is seeking passionate, talented, and dedicated individuals for a custodial operations specialist position. The Custodial Operations Specialist is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the cleanliness, maintenance, and proper functioning of facilities within the organization. This role focuses on managing custodial staff, ensuring adherence to cleanliness standards, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for building occupants. The Custodial Operations Specialist will work closely with the Operations Management team to coordinate cleaning schedules, perform inspections, and implement effective cleaning practices.
Position Qualifications & Competencies
• Belief in the mission and values of InspireNOLA;
• Knowledge of the use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
• Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
• Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices
• Attention to detail and conscientiousness
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in custodial services or facilities management, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Knowledge of cleaning practices, chemicals, and equipment.
• Previous experience with budget management, inventory control, and staff training is desirable.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage teams effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations (OSHA) is preferred.
• Very good physical condition and strength
• High school diploma is preferred but not required
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Supervision:
- Supervise and coordinate custodial staff, ensuring adherence to cleaning schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Provide training and guidance to custodial staff on cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and the use of equipment and chemicals.
- Monitor staff performance and conduct regular evaluations to ensure high-quality service.
2. Cleaning & Maintenance:
- Perform regular inspections of facilities to ensure all areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Oversee cleaning activities including trash removal, floor care, restroom cleaning, window washing, and other general custodial duties.
- Ensure proper inventory levels of cleaning supplies and order necessary materials as needed.
3. Operational Efficiency:
- Develop and implement cleaning schedules that align with the organization’s operational needs.
- Manage and track custodial equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and safe operation.
- Identify and resolve any issues related to custodial operations in a timely manner.
4. Health & Safety Compliance:
- Ensure that all cleaning practices and materials comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct routine safety inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA or other relevant standards.
- Promote safe work practices and ensure custodial staff adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
5. Customer Service & Communication:
- Act as the main point of contact for staff, building occupants, and other departments regarding custodial services and maintenance issues.
- Respond to inquiries and requests related to cleaning and building maintenance, ensuring prompt and efficient resolution.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the Facilities Manager regarding custodial operations and performance metrics.
6. Quality Control & Reporting:
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure cleaning standards are consistently met.
- Track and report on performance metrics, such as response times, issue resolution, and staff efficiency.
- Implement continuous improvement measures to enhance custodial operations and services.
