Position Summary
The School-Based Athletic Trainer is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation
of programs for the prevention of injuries to student-athletes, administering first aid and emergency medical care, administering rehabilitation for injuries, and doing other related work as required. Our Athletic Trainers are the primary caregivers providing superior rehabilitative care to injured high school athletes. Duties include prevention, evaluation, documentation, education, immediate care, referrals, coordination of care of athletic injuries, and communication with coaches, athletes, and their parents. The School-Based Athletic Trainer reports to the InspireNOLA Schools Director of Athletics and the Athletic Director. 

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities 
Establish an effective athletic training program for high school athletics.
Provide first aid and injury assessment/treatment/rehabilitation/reconditioning student-athletes. 
Making appropriate physician referrals.
Provide coverage at home events and practices from the beginning of the fall sports season to the conclusion of the spring season.
Coordinate the annual required athletic physicals and supervise the clearance of injured athletes prior to and during the sports seasons.
Maintain a line of communication with the team physician(s) regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries.
Assist coaching staff in evaluating and implementing sport-specific conditioning programs and methods.
Maintain an effective and efficient athletic training room.
Maintain communication with parents on the care & and treatment of their student-athletes.
File all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents.
Complete (school systems) policies training to include: Blood Borne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan training and comply with the regulations therein.
Provide the Athletic Director with an annual budget for supplies and equipment.
Assist in the selection and fitting of protective equipment, including special taping, pads or braces.
Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks
Share professional literature relative to athletic training with the school’s coaching staff. 
Develop coach’s professional development for CPR/AED, Concussion, Heat Illness, Sudden Cardiac Death, Sickel Cell etc
Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
 
Position Qualifications & Competencies 
Must be a member of the school’s staff.
Belief in the mission and values of InspireNOLA; 
Experience as an athletic trainer at the high school or college level (preferred); 
Maintain current certification and continuing education requirements as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers
Must possess effective training techniques and skills; 
Must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport; 
Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
